Parvus Therapeutics Inc.

Parvus Therapeutics Inc. is a privately held biopharmaceutical company developing Navacims™, a platform technology based on foundational research published in 2016 (Nature 530:434), to treat autoimmune diseases. Parvus’ mission is to shift the treatment paradigm toward Navacim™-directed immune regulation, avoiding non-specific immune suppression associated with current therapies. Parvus’ innovative approach has the potential to benefit millions of patients suffering from debilitating autoimmune diseases and other chronic inflammatory conditions. Parvus is advancing a pipeline of proprietary drug candidates for multiple autoimmune indications through preclinical development and into the clinic. Parvus’ leadership team is experienced in successful drug discovery, development, manufacturing, regulatory approval, and commercialization.

About Navacims™

Navacims™ are a novel first-in-class nanomedicine designed to treat autoimmune disease by selectively modulating disease-specific cellular responses without impairing normal immunity. Navacims™ specifically target and act only on disease causing effector T cells, delivering a signal that programs effector T cells to differentiate into regulatory T (Treg) cells specific for self-antigens relevant to the patient’s disease. These disease- or tissue-specific Treg cells induce immunological tolerance to block undesired immune responses to self-antigens, while maintaining normal immune surveillance and activity.

The Position

We are seeking a Scientist to join the Protein Sciences and Process Development Group. The ideal candidate will conduct protein characterization mass spectrometry activities to support our pre-clinical and clinical programs with the Parvus technology platform. The individual should have extensive experience with protein characterization mass spectrometry, preferably peptide mapping, glycan analysis, glycobiology, and related protein post-translational modifications. Experience with in-vitro ELISA or activity assays is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Primary contributor with protein characterizing mass spectrometry experiments, including maintaining the instrument, developing and performing experiments with an emphasis on intact mass, glycan analysis and peptide mapping studies.
  • Learn, develop, and perform in vitro protein and nanoparticle biophysical and binding characterization assays.
  • Prepare technical documents for transfer to contract manufacturers.
  • Work collaboratively in multi-functional groups to test drug substance critical quality attributes.
  • Contribute scientifically to the growing knowledge base of the Parvus technology platform.
  • Develop and execute detailed SOP’s that can be readily transferred to outside partners and document experiments in a lab notebook.
  • Present at team meetings, across Parvus, and with our business partners as needed to drive studies and provide analytical support to material production and manufacturing.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related discipline
  • 0-1 year of hands-on experience in industry. Experience with mass spectrometry, with an emphasis on glycan analysis and post-translational modification characterizations.
  • Expertise setting up, maintaining, and running LC/MS equipment independently or with minimal assistance is required.
  • Expert at solving technical challenges in protein characterization and assay development.
  • Experience with ELISAs is a plus.
  • Analytical problem solving and organizational skills are required to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently in the laboratory and in cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a small, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly adjust to shifting project demands and priorities.
  • Good oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
